We depart Plymouth at 8am, making a comfort stop along the way, before heading directly to London for our afternoon visit to the Tower of London. It was founded by William the Conqueror in 1066-67, spanning 1,000 years of British history. Through the centuries that followed successive monarchs added to the fortifications, and it holds some of the most remarkable stories, along with the dazzling display of the 23,578 gems that make up the crown jewels, including the world’s most famous diamonds. It’s famous "Beefeaters" are now responsible for guarding the jewels and are often seen strolling the grounds in their historic uniform acting as tour guides. From here it is just a short journey to our hotel where we will check in, have our evening meal and relax for the evening.
