Enjoy a full day exploring the medieval city of Norwich, with its 900-year-old Norman Cathedral and Castle at its heart. Around every corner you will discover ancient and beautiful buildings, and it is a pleasure to wander around the medieval streets.

Today we combine a nostalgic steam train ride with a cruise on the Norfolk Broads. You join the train at Aylsham for a 9 mile ride witnessing beautiful scenery as the train winds along the river Bure to your destination, Wroxham. We then board a boat for a 90 minute cruise on the beautiful Norfolk Broads.

We leave our hotel today and travel to St George's Distillery - home of The English Whisky Co. the first distillery in England in over 100 years and part of Norfolk's heritage. The beautiful distillery was designed and built by the Nelstrop family for the specific purpose of producing the very finest English Single Malt Whisky. Following our one hour tour, we enjoy a 2-course set lunch before travelling to the Lavenham which has been called "the most complete medieval town in Britain", a tribute to its fine collection of medieval and Tudor architecture. Mansions of wealthy merchants mingle with simple cottages, some of which mix crooked timber beams with sprightly pink-painted infill. We then travel on to the Mill Hotel in Sudbury our hotel for the next 3 nights.

This morning we visit Colchester, the former capital of England and Britain's first city. It has a rich and varied history that can be explored today through its museums, ruins, and by walking its streets. It has particularly strong connections to both its Roman heritage, and the scars left by the Siege of Colchester during the English Civil War. Today Colchester is a thriving and expanding town with plenty to keep you entertained with numerous galleries, theatres and arts venues as well as a bustling town centre with plenty of restaurants and shops. This afternoon we visit the Tiptree Jam Shop and Tearooms. Over 50 years ago, John Wilkin began collecting the paraphernalia of preserve making and Essex village life. The John Wilkin Collection is now jam packed with artefacts! Get a real taste of Tiptree in the building where the famous jam was first prepared. We enjoy tea/coffee and a scone with Tiptree jam and clotted cream, served in the Tiptree Tea rooms followed by a free flow visit of the visitor centre and a little pot of Tiptree jam to take home as a souvenir. Following this we visit the Tiptree museum that includes a 10-15 minute DVD presentation on how Tiptree jams are made (from when the fruit is picked to the labelling stage), some artefacts and machinery used in the production.

Today, we explore Constable Country, located on the Suffolk and Essex border. East Bergholt is the site of John Constable's Studio and St Mary's Church, built in the 15th and 16th centuries and renowned for the absence of a tower or spire to house the bells; it is also the birthplace of the famous painter. At Dedham our tour takes in sights such as Constable's School and Dedham Parish Church, dedicated to St Mary the Virgin in 1492. Bridge Cottage at Flatford is located upstream from Flatford Mill and houses an exhibition on John Constable, several of whose paintings famously feature the mill.

Sadly, we must make our way back towards the West Country today. There will be comfort stops and a longer break for lunch along the way arriving back into Plymouth early evening.
